Toronto coach Preki praises Canadian Cup
Toronto FC coach Preki Radosavljevic has praised the Canadian Soccer Association’s Nutrilite Club championship.
The former Chivas USA mentor said from what he knows of the Canadian Cup, there is a lot more passion for it than the USA’s version and said he will be trying to guide the Reds to a second-successive cup triumph.
"When you go to U.S. Open Cup games there are a couple hundred people. There's not much passion," Preki told the Toronto Sun. "With this Cup in Canada there seems to be a lot on the line, people are interested and that's good for the football community.
The competition kicks off in late April and will be played every Wednesday up until early June and Preki said he has put a high priority on having a successful campaign this term.
"Is the priority in the league, yes," he said, then quickly added: "But is this important, too? Yes."
