Toronto chief Anselmi positive despite shortfall
Toronto FC chief executive Tom Anselmi was remaining positive despite the club missing out on the MLS play-offs this season.
The Reds had set a goal at the start of the 2009 season to qualify for the play-offs but a final-day debacle (5-0 loss) at the hands of bottom-placed New York Red Bulls ended all hope of pushing for the MLS Cup.
Despite the disappointment, Anselmi was keeping things positive.
“The goal at the start of the year was the playoffs and when you fall short, that's a disappointment," Anselmi said after the failure against New York.
"This sucked and we've got to pick ourselves up and move forward. That's all you can do."
Anselmi confirmed that current general manager Mo Johnston would remain in charge and that he believes the club is headed in the right direction.
