Top French scout quits Man City for Watford

Romain Poirot is beginning to make his mark at Watford.

Poirot left his role as Manchester City's French-based scout over the summer to take on a similar role with Watford and fellow Gino Pozzo-owned club, Udinese.

Watford currently only have three Frenchman in their first team squad, and only one of those – Abdoulaye Doucoure – came directly from France when he joined from Rennes a year ago. The other two, Younes Kaboul and Etienne Capoue, came via Spurs' scouting network.

The Hertfordshire Mercury says He is believed to have been influential in signing Seko Fofana, Olivier Ntcham, Thierry Ambrose and David Faupala from French academies for City. Fofana has since made his way to Udinese, meaning he could conceivably be wearing the red and yellow of Watford one day.
