Top-four finish will give Liverpool impetus to challenge for title next term - Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge believes Liverpool's finish this season could determine what they achieve in 2015/16.

The Reds are knocking on the door of the Premier League's top four and a win against old enemies Manchester United on Sunday will catapult them into the Champions League places.

Ahead of the crucial season run-in, striker Sturridge has highlighted the importance of pushing into England's elite four which will give them the motivation to kick on next season and become a genuine title threat.

"The boys have fought back to where we are now and that is testament to the hard work everyone has put in," said Sturridge.

"The formation is working, everyone is defending very well. It's great to see and long may it continue in terms of how we go out there with a positive attitude, try to play our football, try to break down the opposition and create chances to score goals.

"If we can finish in the top four, which is definitely possible for us, then we can push on and challenge for the title again next season.

"It is important to secure fourth place and then from there look on. That's what we're aiming to do and if we can get higher than that then perfect."
