Luca Toni has already made his debut for Roma after completing his loan move from Bayern Munich.
The new signing played in yesterday's 3-0 friendly win over Cisco Lodigiani.
"Toni moved well and we tried to give him the ball where he likes it," commented the Coach.
"He has been with us for only a day and a half and had three training sessions, so his progress seems positive and I think he could play against Cagliari on Wednesday.
"Toni is reactive and I expected him to be a bit slower at this stage, but he gave a good account of himself."
Ranieri had stated he wanted a big centre-forward to complete his squad, though that means some big changes.
"On a tactical level with Toni it will be a different Roma, as he has different characteristics from other players. He is a complete player and can give us his best.
"We were accustomed to a certain approach, but playing every three days will give everyone the chance to shine.
"Will Roma become Inter's antagonists? I hope so."
