Luca Toni has confirmed he's urged Bayern Munich to shop in the Italian transfer market this summer - including going for AC Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso.

"I told the directors that I would like to have some more Italians in the squad," he revealed on his website. "Partly so that I can have a bit more company but mostly so that they can help us make a leap in quality.

"Rino is a Milan player who is under contract at San Siro and he will have to decided along with the club what is best to do. But in my opinion he is a great player and lots of Europe's top clubs would really want him. I would really like to have him on my team.

"Last time I spoke to him was when he called to congratulate me on winning the Bundesliga and he asked me what life is like in Munich. But I haven't got any meeting lined up with him in the near future."
