Luca Toni was delighted to mark his Roma debut with victory over Chievo on Saturday.
The striker played for 80 minutes in the 1-0 victory over Chievo and earned a penalty that David Pizarro had saved.
"It was my first game in front of my new fans," he told Sky Italia. "I tried to give my best and the important thing is we got the three points. Considering we played for almost the whole match with 10 men, it wasn't easy."
Toni is on loan from Bayern Munich, where he was released after a row with Coach Louis Van Gaal.
"I am not remotely interested in sending a 'message' back to Germany. After all, if I hadn't had problems with Van Gaal, then I would never have come to Roma.
"I'll try to give everything I've got with this jersey for six months, then we'll see what happens."
