Title winner Pato: I want to be AC Milan icon

Alexandre Pato wants to become an AC Milan icon.

The Brazil striker has just won his first title as a Rossoneri player.

“I don’t look at it like Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” he said. “I want to stay here and become a flag bearer for this club, like Paolo Maldini. However, to become a symbol of a team you have to win a lot.”

Pato has got his hands on silverware this term after scoring the goals that helped Milan wrap up the Scudetto two weeks ago.

“It was an indescribable joy,” he added. “I didn’t really notice in Rome, but the following day, after reading all of the newspapers, I realised what we had achieved.

“Ronaldinho called me up before the Roma game to wish me luck. This Scudetto also belongs to him.”
