Manchester United's David Moyes was remaining defiant despite his side losing 3-1 to Chelsea on Sunday.
A hat-trick from Samuel Eto'o, before a late reply from Javier Hernandez, condemned the Red Devils to a seventh defeat of the campaign which has them 14 points behind top-of-the-table Arsenal.
After the match, Moyes admitted United's chances of defending their title were not great but refused to give up hope.
"It is a long way away, we will never say it is gone and we will do our best to get back in and the only thing we can do is try and win our next game and we will try and do that," he told Sky Sports.
He added in the post-match press conference: "We won't throw the towel in until we can't get there.
"The job is to try and finish first. I will keep trying to do that.
"Before today we'd lost one in six in the league, and I didn't think there was a big difference between the teams today, not at all.
"The difference was our defending to set-pieces. Nothing else."
