Time away helped Arsenal relax at Reading - Arteta

Mikel Arteta believes the short break Arsenal were able to experience last week helped them recharge their batteries.

The Gunners came out and hammered Reading 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and Spanish midfielder Arteta, who netted from the penalty spot, felt the three-day break whilst other players were away on international duty helped some of Arsene Wenger's squad.

"We had three days to get some time with the family and relax our minds from football," Arteta told the club's official website.

"(After the break) we trained really hard in the last week and this week as well. And I think we played very well.

"We had a really high tempo right from the start. I think we had a lot of good combinations around the box. We looked lively.

"We're on a very good run in the Premier League. We have to keep going. We know that we're depending on other results, so let's see what happens."

Arsenal sit fifth on the Premier League table, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and four in arrears of North London rivals Tottenham who have played one extra match.
