Jose 'Gringo' Torres is set to miss as many as three months of Tigres UANL's Liga MX Clausura campaign.
The American midfielder, who has played for the USA on 26 occasions, suffered a herniated disk in his back which forced him to undergo surgery.
The Texas native had been struggling with the problem in pre-season which prompted Tigres to send him for the operation. It was also revealed that he had damage to the sciatic nerve.
Torres had the procedure on Monday and will recover for the next two weeks before rehabilitation begins and it is expected that he will be out of action until at least late April.
