Vancouver Whitecaps are edging towards a sold out match this weekend as they prepare to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
Less than 1,000 tickets remain for the Whitecaps' clash with San Jose Earthquakes at BC Place which will mark 40 years since the club was first formed in the old North American Soccer League.
Fans have been encouraged to come dressed in 1970s outfits as the Whitecaps get set to make history by completing four decades of competition which started back in 1974.
"We're really excited about our 40th anniversary match on Saturday," said Whitecaps FC chief operating officer Rachel Lewis.
"It's going to be a nostalgic atmosphere at BC Place as we celebrate the proud history of soccer in Vancouver. Tickets remain available, but as always, it's best to get them early to ensure you won't miss out."
Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi, who was part of the inaugural team, will be honoured along with the rest of the team from '74.
Tickets for Vancouver's historical match are available at the Whitecaps' official website.
