Thorne: Missing World Cup won me new West Brom deal

George Thorne is delighted with his new deal at West Bromwich Albion.

The midfielder's agreement was his second in a matter of months.

"They told me what I needed to do to get another contract and the level I needed to reach - and that was to be in and around the first team," Thorne told the WBA website.

"Thankfully I've stayed injury-free and I've had a strong pre-season.

"In the long term the decision to pull me out of the Under-20s World Cup has paid off.

"I'm thankful for that and being given the chance to impress in pre-season."
