Kevin Thomson is keen to see former Hibs teammate Steven Whittaker join him at Rangers.

Thomson has no doubt the 23-year-old would fit in, and Rangers boss Walter Smith is believed to admire the former Scotland Under-21 defender. Thomson told Rangers News: "He is one of my close friends. I would love to see him here but it's not my decision.

"Big clubs are looking at Steven now and hopefully he will get his break. I'm sure if he did come then he could fit in somewhere in the team."
