Liverpool hero Phil Thompson has hit out at Raheem Sterling's agents.

Sterling declared this week he was "flattered" by interest from their next opponents Arsenal.

"It shows his representative is inexperienced and is giving Raheem bad advice. It smacks of self-interest from the agent and Raheem is probably too young to realise that," said ex-Reds skipper Thompson.

"To bring everything up again and especially before a vital game against Arsenal, it's not the right way of doing things."
