Thommo reveals Liverpool 'looked at' Eriksen before Spurs move

Former Liverpool coach Phil Thompson admits they made a serious play for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Liverpool were keen on making a move for Eriksen in 2013 only for him to snub Anfield to sign on for Spurs.

Thompson, who spent four years at Anfield, tweeted today: “Christian Eriksen is a marvellous player lfc did look at him before he went to spurs #Eriksen."

Meanwhile, ex-West Ham boss Slaven Bilic says Eriksen is wanted by "all the big clubs".

He said on BBC commentary today: “Eriksen, all the big clubs are after him.

“The only reason why he's not a huge, huge name is because he's supposed to be very humble, an ordinary guy, whereas nowadays you need to be a bit more like what Pogba is having off the pitch.

“We played about five or six times against Spurs in the league and in the cup, sometimes he didn't play well but it's impossible to man mark him. Just watch his goals.

“He's quick enough and then he's not a player who will take the ball and beat six players.

“He can play with one touch or two touches.

“He's got that great quality of feeling the space around him and when to come in. So to mark him individually it's pointless."
