Former Liverpool boss Phil Thompson is convinced Robbie Keane will come good for his new club.

The ex-Tottenham striker has struggled in his opening two competitive games for Liverpool, but Thommo told liverpoolfc.tv: "I was flagging Robbie Keane up half way through last season after I found out he was a Liverpool fan and all his family were Reds.

"I thought that, with him being such a good player as well, he'd be a fantastic asset to the team.

"He's full of enthusiasm, has great skill, scores goals, works hard and, when the going gets tough, he's going to roll his sleeves up and want it that bit more.

"It's good that we've got that Irish link back as well, because if you look back at the success we've had, Scottish and Irish players have always played a big part."
