Inter Milan owner Erick Thohir admits coach Walter Mazzarri wants to buy a new striker in January.
PSG attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi has been linked with Inter in recent days.
Thohir remarked: "The Coach has asked me to purchase a striker and I have discussed this with [sporting director Marco] Branca.
"Today, decisions are made collectively, but we will not buy players based on their origin, nor on loan, but people who really serve this team and fall under the requirements of the Coach.
"The need is the main criterion, the funds are not an issue. It is impossible to collect so many players through purchasing them or sometimes perhaps on loan as they may not play if there are other players of superior quality."
