Third goal killed Villarreal - Liverpool ace Lallana

Adam Lallana felt his second-half goal for Liverpool ended any Villarreal hope in Thursday night's Europa League semi-final second leg.

The midfielder turned in Daniel Sturridge's scuffed effort in the 81st minute to give the Reds a 3-0 lead (3-1 overall) and at that stage of the contest, especially with Villarreal a man down after Victor Ruiz's red card, the tie was decided.

Villarreal captain Bruno's own-goal in the seventh minute has the Reds back on level terms before Sturridge fired the home team ahead on 63 minutes before Lallana wrapped it up to send the Merseyside club into the May 18 final where they will face Sevilla in Basel.

Of his goal, Lallana told BT Sport: "That killed the game.

"We know it could have been difficult 1-0 at half-time. They could get an away goal but we showed great guts, we got the second and the third killed the game with them at 10 man.

"The lads deserve to be in another final (after the League Cup loss) and hopefully we can win it."
