Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard insists his side must improve rapidly if they are to close the gap on the top teams in the Premier League.
The Blues went to within nine points of league leaders Manchester United with a 3-1 away win over Blackpool last night but finished the match in a disappointing, conceding a goal to Tangerines midfielder Jason Puncheon.
Lampard, who scored twice in the win, said it was nice to get the win, but feels the team has to get better if they want to throw a last-ditch effort at the likes of United, Arsenal and Manchester City.
"We weren't at our best, we were a bit sloppy and we cannot afford to be like that if we want to do anything," he said.
"We are still behind but it is nice to be looking up in the table at the top four. If we win every game we still have a chance but Arsenal and Manchester United are good sides and they have a good lead."
