Thierry Henry says Ernesto Valverde will need total support at Barcelona.

Henry, however, is backing the new coach for success.

"If there is anyone who knows about Barcelona, it's Valverde," Henry said.

"I see him doing well, but the team have to be patient and help him.

"Messi is an example for wanting to play every day, he has that desire to play every game, to train every day and to work hard.

"I think Leo has changed a bit, and now he's giving a lot more assists, and I think people don't talk much about what he's doing for the rest of the team."

Asked what it meant to 'be' Barcelona, Henry was unequivocal.

"Barcelona is very special," he continued.

"I realised when I played there and for me it is more than a club.

"When you leave you know and understand what it is.

"In my time there were about 11 players from the academy.

"It's the games, it's the goals, it's the fans, it's the Camp Nou, that's all."
