Thiago Motta is delighted with his move to Genoa.

Off contract from Atletico Madrid, Motta agreed terms with Genoa over the weekend and his signing was confirmed at the end of their stunning 2-0 defeat of AC Milan.

The Brazilian said: "I want to return to my best and Genoa is the ideal club to do this with."

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi said: "For him, we made a major investment for the future. He will need three weeks to regain form and fitness, but then we will have one more first team player."

Motta's terms are understood to be around £1.1 million-a-year.
