Comments from Adrien Silva's father could have forced Sporting CP's hand in negotiations with Leicester City.
The attacker almost signed for the Foxes late yesterday for a massive £38.5 million.
Earlier in the morning, Silva's father, Manuel, fired a broadside at Sporting management.
"I am worried. I think there's been a lack of respect towards a player serving the club for 15 years and is an exemplary professional," he said.
"After 15 years of loyal service to a club he deserves respect, and we have done a lot for the club and the supporters, all this was needless.
"Even if he stays, he will serve the club as he's always served, but with people who are at the head of the club there will be a wound. I'm not hurt, I respect the president, but I think between men we have to decide. People have to speak. We are good people, not seeking to stab anyone in the back."
Asked for a final word, just hours before his son saw his Leicester move fall through, Manuel replied: "Just act with good sense..."
