Thaksin Shinawatra is set to give up all his shares in Manchester City's sale to the Abu Dhabi United Group.
The Daily Mail says Thaksin, 59, will remain on the City board as an honorary president but will not get the 10 per cent stake in the club he was initially expected to retain and may keep nothing at all.
His key aide, Pairoj Piempongsant, who played a big part in both the takeover and the £34m capture of Brazilian Robinho, is likely to be retained in some capacity by the new owners. He is flying to Dubai today to complete the deal.
The one member of the City hierarchy still left from the era of recent owner John Wardle is his business partner Bryan Bodek, who has been a board member for a decade. He is keen to remain but his future appears far from assured.
