Manchester City chairman Thaksin Shinawatra hopes his pursuit of Luiz Felipe Scolari will lead to the club also landing Barcelona star Ronaldinho.

El Mundo Deportivo says Portugal coach Scolari is Thaksin's top target to succeed Sven Goran Eriksson at the end of the season and hopes by appointing the Brazilian it will lead to Ronaldinho moving to Eastlands before the start of next season.

Scolari and Ronaldinho enjoy an excellent relationship and only last month the former Brazil coach insisted: "Ronnie has not yet reached his peak as a footballer."
