As the former Thai PM and a billionaire businessman, Shinawatra aims to work the Asian market to the full for the good of City.

He said: "We have to do more marketing in Asia, that is my plan. In Asia they watch every live Premiership match.

"People in Asia know this club very well and my takeover will make it even more popular. I know that Manchester United and Liverpool are very big there. But I believe we can be as big as them in Asia within the next two or three seasons.

"I also aim to set up academies in Asia and the Middle East."
