Tevez urges Man City to beat lesser-likes

Carlos Tevez has urged Manchester City to improve their results against clubs placed lower on the table if they want to be a genuine title threat. City often produce the goods against top notch clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and sometimes even United but it is the draws and losses against the likes of Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers that frustrate the Argentine.

"We always play very well against the big teams but the important thing now is we concentrate and play the same game against the smaller teams," he said.

"If we can do that it will take us to the next level."

Tevez admitted the 1-0 win over Chelsea on the weekend, where he scored the winner, was great for City's title hopes and now wants to lead his team to bigger and better things this season.

"This was a great result in the battle for the Championship. It was really important we won," he added.

"I like playing against most teams but seem to make a special mark against Chelsea.

"We are becoming a strong team and as captain it's important I give them the strength and spirit to continue this way."
