Carlos Tevez has assured Manchester City teammates he plans to stay.
Nigel De Jong says there are no doubts about his commitment to the cause among the rest of the squad.
He said: "Carlos has made it clear to the squad he still sees himself as a Manchester City player and we hope he will continue to be.
"If the gaffer has said that about Carlos, it's a great pleasure to hear. Everybody hopes he will. It's not a case of him wanting to go. It's a family thing for him.
"But everyone knows what kind of player Carlos is. You don't see goals like that so often.
"After being out for a long time he's come back and shown his class. He's helping us get over the line.
"They would be big shoes to fill but everyone is confident we won't need to. He's still in our squad and we don't think that will change."
