Carlos Tevez is planning to wage a legal battle against Manchester City.

The Sunday Mirror says the 27-year-old Argentina striker has consulted lawyers with a view to suing City.

If the former club captain is successful he could secure compensation and walk out of City on a free transfer.

Tevez will learn this week the extent of his punishment over his antics in Munich after being hit by five separate charges.

Tevez's legal team have already warned they will appeal to the club's board and then the Premier League if City press ahead with their threat of a six-week ban and £1.5million fine.
