Tevez hat-trick pushes Man City into fourth place

Manchester City had little difficulty in securing fourth slot in the Premiership with a comfortable 4-1 victory over a poor Blackburn Rovers at Eastlands. Blackburn never came to terms with Carlos Tevez who plundered a hat-trick against a team who look to be battling relegation for the remainder of the season.

And all this with City's new signing Patrick Vieira watching in the stands.

Rovers set out to defend with a five man midfield but this tactic lasted just seven minutes before Tevez put City ahead.

The visitor's defence was again exposed as Micah Richards ended a surging run with number two just before the break.

The Argentinean claimed his second in the 49th minute before City had a characteristic wobble at the back allowing Morten Gamst Pedersen to give Blackburn a glimmer of hope with 20 minutes remaining.

But Tevez made it ten goals in seven matches when he claimed the match ball with an injury time strike.
