Carlos Tevez could still be on his way from Manchester City in the summer.
The City captain withdrew his transfer request last week after several days of a stand-off with City management.
Tevez was on the mark twice in victory at Newcastle United yesterday.
The News of the World says Tevez has been told he can leave the club if he helps them win the Champions League.
The club captain has also been promised they will try to sign Benfica defender David Luiz and Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko in the January transfer window.
