Tevez goals were written in the stars - Man City's Barry

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry believes Carlos Tevez's goals in the 2-1 Carling Cup semi-final win over rivals Manchester United were written in the script.

The former Red Devils striker netted twice as the Blues came from a goal down to clinch a dramatic first leg victory and Barry claims it was written in the stars.

"Obviously the talk was about Carlos before the game and he did his talking on the pitch with a great performance," Barry told BBC1.

"That's the way it's written sometimes and the way Carlos works, he deserves it."

Barry admitted that the result was not yet decided and that City would have to work extra hard to gain a positive result at Old Trafford next week.

"It's still in the balance, it's half-time obviously, and we expect a tough game at Old Trafford. They're going to push on and give all they can, and we're going to expect a battle again," he added.
