Manchester City produced their best display of the campaign in the 4-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage in front of Diego Maradona. City returned to the Premiership top four courtesy of a brace from Carlos Tevez and one apiece from Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure.
Fulham's consolation goal came from Zoltan Gera when City were already four ahead.
The visitor's raced into a three-nil half time lead with an impressive display that the Cottagers had no answer to.
Tevez, inspired perhaps by the presence of his countryman Maradona, opened the scoring early on.
Zabaleta doubled City's lead and just after the half-hour Toure made it three.
Tevez second was a deflection from a Zabaleta shot as City played with a fluency not seen on this scale since the season began.
This result keeps up the odd statistic that none of the last eight league meetings between these two teams has ended in a home win.
For Mark Hughes, the former City boss, Fulham have now only two wins in their last 14 games and only goal difference is keeping them out of the drop zone.
