Terry urges England fans to lay-off Lampard

Lampard, who has been a recent victim of England boo-boys, is taking injections because of a broken toe.

"He's playing through injuries to get through training and games," Terry said.

"He doesn't miss a day of training, he will keep playing and training - he is a fantastic professional and a world-class player." Midfielder Lampard has been singled out for criticism by some England fans during some of the team's recent below-par displays but Terry has urged them to get behind his Blues team-mate.

"I would hope they lay off him. He got targeted from them for some bad performances from everyone," added Terry. "He took the brunt and that's unfair.

"It is a privilege to play with him for England and Chelsea and he is an example for all younger players."
