Terry said: "The new manager can come in and change things completely. That's his decision and I fully respect whatever he decides.
"Whoever the new manager is he'll make the right decision for England - not for John Terry or Steven Gerrard or for anyone.
"But I want to keep the armband and drive this thing forward."
However, some FA board members are disturbed by off-field stories concerning Terry - and want his position reviewed when Capello takes over.
But Terry, 27, said: "I want to keep my armband and make England successful."
