Ten Cate upset with Chelsea dismissal

Former Chelsea assistant manager Henk Ten Cate has revealed his sadness and disappointment at being sacked by the Blues this week.

The ex-Ajax manager linked up with the Chelsea last October as part of Avram Grant's backroom staff following Jose Mourinho's exit.

However, just 10 months later Ten Cate is out of a job and the Dutchman has admitted his disappointment at not being offered the chance to succeed Grant.

"The club has not trusted in me and did not even ask me if I wanted to be the new coach," he told The People.

"Chelsea say they need a change in technical staff and I did not enter their plans.

"I came with a lot of excitement to this project, but I am leaving sad and upset because they have not let me do more."

Ten Cate believes his tough-guy public image and bust-ups with Chelsea's superstars may have hindered his chance of staying on at Stamford Bridge.

"In a lot of moments I have appeared as the bad guy in the dressing room before the players and this could have gone against me," he continued.

"My future has been caught up in Grant's and with his departure it was very likely that I would follow the same way.

"In this time I have done everything at Chelsea and the pity is that is has not served very much."
