Football Federation Australia has sealed a new rights deal with the Telstra telco, reports SportBusiness.

The deal will run for five years, from 2018 to 2022. Telstra has sub-licensed the digital rights from pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports, as part of the 2016 rights deal between the FFA and Foxtel.

The agreement covers mobile rights for the men's A-League, women's W-League and the national men's and women's teams.

Further talks are taking place between the two parties about showing coverage on the telco's streaming service, Telstra TV, according to the Australian Financial Review.

Telstra will exploit the rights via a new My Football Live application, following a template that the telco has used for other sports, such as Aussie rules, netball and rugby league.

The report added that Telstra customers would be able to access coverage of matches for free, while non-subscribers would be able to purchase a 12-month, monthly or weekly pass for Aus$99.99 (€63/$75), Aus$16.99 and Aus$4.99 respectively.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
