Teenagers converge on Los Angeles for Galaxy trials

More than 400 teenagers converged on Glendale, Los Angeles on the weekend for the chance to win one of five spots that would then push for the LA Galaxy youth academy.

Players ranging from 14 to 18 years of age turned up to the Glendale Sports Complex for their shot at stardom where the eventual winner would saddle up with the likes of David Beckham and Landon Donovan by being added to the Galaxy's youth roster.

Galaxy youth coach Eddie Soto said it was a great opportunity for the youngsters around the area to put their wares to the test.

"It's going to give these kids an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of us," he said.

But MLS marketing executive Jose Galvan said whoever missed out should not feel that this was their one and only chance of making it.

"It's not the end of the road," Galvan said. "They have many opportunities either with the L.A. Galaxy or another team or another place to keep on playing."
