Koo Ja-cheol's desire to put in a strong shift for his team is something that has quickly been detected out by Mainz boss Thomas Tuchel.
The 24-year old South Korean midfielder, who arrived at the Coface Arena from Wolfsburg last month, scored in last weekend's 2-0 win over Freiburg in just his second appearance for die Nullfunfer.
But it is not the goalscoring exploits of Koo that most impress Tuchel who believes the former Augsburg loanee loves nothing more than putting his teammates before him.
"I know he likes operating as the playmaker and I think that's his strongest position," said the Mainz manager.
"He defines himself as an absolute team player. He's quite willing to put in a shift at the coal face at the expense of any personal glory."
Koo will step out for his third appearance for the carnival club when they head to his former employees Wolfsburg on Saturday.
