Team GB coach Pearce on hand to see Beckham guide LA Galaxy to victory

Great Britain football team coach Stuart Pearce was present at The Home Depot Center to watch David Beckham help LA Galaxy to a much-needed win.

The reigning MLS champions ended a seven-game league winless streak by defeating Portland timbers 1-0 at home with Beckham providing the winning assist in the 61st minute for Todd Dunivant from a corner.

Pearce was running the rule over the 37-year old midfielder ahead of next month's London Olympic Games as he get set to finalise his 18-man squad by early July with the former England international likely to be one of three overage players in the U23 team.

Despite being watched closely, Beckham insisted that he was only focused on the game as the Galaxy were in desperate need of a season-boosting victory.

"You go out and play your game as if no one is here. You hope to perform and have an assist or two, and today was a good day," Beckham said.

"It wasn't pretty at times but we are happy with the three points and to get back in winning ways."
