Derby County winger Gary Teale has welcomed his former Wigan manager Paul Jewell to Pride Park.
Teale told the Wigan Observer: "He's the best man for the job. He knows what a relegation scrap is all about and I think he will pull us out of it.
"We're not out of it yet by a long way. A couple of wins will get us out of it. He's the best manager I've ever worked under. He's one of the best in the country.
"He can lift players and get the best out of them." Jewell almost returned to Latics for a second spell, but was talked out it by his wife Anne-Marie. He needed a fresh challenge," says Teale.
"Obviously the chairman at Wigan knows how good he is with players and that's why he wanted him back. I'm just glad he turned the offer down and can help pull us out of it instead."
