Newcastle United's contract talks with Steven Taylor have stalled.

The People says Taylor's contract negotiations with Newcastle have stalled after the defender demanded £52,000 a week.

Taylor, who has 18 months left on his current deal, is on £7,000 a week.

After more than 100 appearances, the 22-year-old was determined to secure a big pay rise. But Newcastle won't commit themselves while they are still battling against relegation - even though Taylor can walk away on a free transfer at the end of next season.
