Graham Taylor has urged Hull City defender Michael Turner not to have his head turned by England talk.
Former England boss Taylor told the Hull Daily Mail: "My advice to him would be to keep his head down and concentrate on playing the way he has been playing, because football has got a habit of kicking you up the backside.
"Phil Brown I'm sure will be saying the same thing.
"You have maintain your level of confidence, but try and keep going and applying yourself in the same manner.
"That's not me trying to play down what Michael Turner and Hull City have achieved, but I have always believed that you have never played as well as you think you have done, or as badly as your critics tell you.
"We have a new England manager in Fabio Capello who we know will select on what he sees.
"We have already seen he is prepared to give players like Michael Turner a chance."
