Steven Taylor wants a much better start to Newcastle United's season this time around.
The Magpies dropped right off the pace last term, falling to 16th, after finishing fifth in 2011-12 and centre-back Taylor is targeting positive early results starting with Manchester City away on Monday night of the Premier League's opening weekend.
"The big games are what we look forward to," he told the club's official website. "We've got Manchester City first game and hopefully we can catch them off guard.
"As players, along with the manager and staff, we were disappointed with our performances last year.
"We didn't hit the grade that we wanted to and hopefully this year we can hit the ground running, starting with Man City in the first game."
