Tax man threatens Portsmouth

Portsmouth are facing a massive tax bill.

The People says Sacha Gaydamak's cash-strapped club are under growing pressure from the Inland Revenue to settle the bill. It is around three months late, and the consequences of failing to pay are huge.

Pompey are desperately short of cash and also seeking to raise £25m to pay off their current backers, the Standard Bank of South Africa.

But the pressing bill from the taxman must be paid, or a winding-up order could arrive at Fratton Park.
