James Tavernier is hoping he is soon given his Premier League debut for Newcastle United.
The versatile 20-year old defender made his fourth Magpies appearance in Wednesday nightâ€™s Capital One Cup loss at Manchester United and with some injuries to Alan Pardewâ€™s defence, he is keen to make the most of his opportunities.
"There's a lot of games coming up with all the European games," he told The Journal.
"Maybe at the moment my best chances are in the full-back positions (with Danny Simpson and Ryan Taylor injured), but if an opportunity comes at centre-back, I'll take it with both hands.
"I'm hoping for a chance. Every game that comes along â€“ European games, cup games â€“ I've got to keep working hard in training to get my chance in them.
"Hopefully I can get a Premiership start. I'm really working hard at that.
"I feel like I'm a really versatile player and I really enjoy wherever I play."
