Tavecchio: Italy coach Conte eyeing Serie B talent

FIGC president Carlo Tavecchio says Serie B players could be selected by Italy coach Antonio Conte.

Tavecchio was discussing the prospect of Conte wanting extra time with his players.

"We'll do them [extra training camps] anyway," Tavecchio told reporters.

"While we won't take disciplinary measures, we'll take note of who sends us players and who doesn't.

"It's not my responsibility to make judgements on the relationships and arguments between Coaches, but the Federation can't just ignore something our Coach asks for.

"For those who don't send players there will be no sanctions, but the prestige and the ideas of the Federation must be respected.

"We won't levy any sanctions, because we respect the FIFA schedules, and we'll take into account those who respond, and the others we'll take note of.

"We're not speaking only of Serie A, we believe there are many interesting players in the lower divisions.

"For Conte, the culture of sacrifice is paramount, and overseas maybe they run and train more. If the culture of sacrifice continues to wane we'll always be playing second-fiddle."
