FIGC president Carlo Tavecchio is happy Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has been called into the Italy squad.
It will be the first time Azzurri coach Antonio Conte has worked with the firebrand.
"Conte told me that he wants to test Balotelli because he doesn't know him," FIGC chief Tavecchio explained after the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti elections.
"I think that Conte has managed to bring back some enthusiasm, giving youth a chance - people have agreed over his choices.
"Now we await a major opponent in Croatia."
