Taouil hopes Kilmarnock stay will enhance international chances

Mehdi Taouil hopes he will not have to leave Kilmarnock to salvage his international career with Morocco. But, despite a string of recent impressive performances, he narrowly missed out on Roger Lemerre's squad for Morocco's friendly against Zambia earlier this month.

The midfielder is desperate to represent his country again and hopes his displays in the SPL will be enough to earn him that recognition.

Asked if a move to a bigger club would bolster his international hopes, Taouil said: "I don't really know.

"What I can say is that I would be really proud to play for my country again.

"I've played for them since 2006. At the moment I feel really good at Kilmarnock and I hope that it can be okay to perform for Morocco and Kilmarnock at the same time.

"I think the manager of the national team was looking at my performances with Kilmarnock.

"I was on the pre-list of 28 players but not on the final list. But it was only a friendly game so it doesn't matter too much.

"Still, I hope to be in the team for the next game because I like to play for my country."
