Tomas Kalas made his debut for Chelsea reserves in yesterday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
The 17 year-old Czech Republic centre-half began the season with Sigma Olomouc before making the move to Chelsea late, last year.
He settled into the game gradually as he adjusted to a new type of football in testing conditions and against pacy opponents.
Kalas was given a full 90 against a Villa attack featuring Nathan Delfouneso and Harry Forrester.
